Why do you have to connect to AOL software to use their broadband?
Arghh I hate AOL. How come they are unlike any other broadband ISP in terms of the internet being already connected. For AOL broadband silver I have to open up the software then click connect. So it’s basically like dial up but faster :/ it’s a nightmare though. I hate having to use their software, it lags my computer. Is there any way of not using the software? I don’t have wireless or anything. Just a standard BT broadband modem. Thanks x
I don’t have an answer for you, but I’d strongly suggest getting rid of AOL. They’re most likely reselling you your phone company’s DSL at a higher price. Plus, AOL software is well known to slow down your computer.
Basically, you probably have some form of DSL, which usually requires a “sign on”. But, newer DSL modems, you can burn this login information actually in the modem, so that it signs on for you and is thus always on. AOL probably just doesn’t tell you this because they want you to use their ad-infested software.
You can try calling AOL tech support to see if they’ll tell you how to not use their software to sign on to the broadband.
