I want to learn to play the keyboard,on a tight budget?
Ive been experimenting with sounds for a long time now on my computer via VST plugins. And now I would like to learn music theory and how to play the keyboard.
I had in mind these two things:
-Novation Xio 49key Synth $400 (Can use it standalone or with VST’s)
-A standard 49key USB/Midi controller to use with my vst plugins. $150
I didnt consider the Alesis micron because it doesent have enoguh keys, but does 49 keys have enough octaves to start learning?
Thanks
http://musictheory.net/ Wow, strange this is exactly my story.
I used FL Studio 8 Producer Edition for a while and now this band wants me to join as keyboards because they like my synth work.
Now I have to learn and I am poor as hell.
Fortunately, they have one for me to use at the shows, but I still want my own to practice with. First of all, don’t settle for anything with less than 88 keys. That is essential. Trust me. As long as you have all 88 keys, or more, you will learn faster. Adjusting the high and low notes will be difficult and frustrating. Get 88 keys and you won’t have to worry about it.
Also, remember music is fun. We all suck at first. Well, I still suck, but keep a positive attitude. You can hear my stuff at www.myspace.com/theastralforum
Add me if you want. I’ll try and give you some tips.
